Auburndale, FL - The Colby College Mules kicked off their annual spring break trip to Florida by splitting their doubleheader matchup with the Ramapo College Roadrunners. Both games were high-scoring affairs, with Colby (7-3) winning game one 11-7 and losing to Ramapo (8-3) by a score of 7-15.
Game One Key Moments:
- Currently batting .472, Cole Palmeri continued his stellar senior campaign when he drove in Ryan Grace on a double to center field.
- Brady O'Brien scored Marcus Forrester and Clint Flippo in the second inning with a single to right field.
- In the fourth inning, Genki LeClair doubled down the right field line to score Palmeri and Grace.
- Palmeri continued to rake with a solo shot to left field in the seventh inning.
- The Mules were able to hold off a charging Ramapo College with last week's NESCAC and NCBWA Pitcher of the Week Nicholas Thompson earning the win.
Game Two Key Moments:
- Grace hit a solo home run to right field in the first, making this his second in three games.
- O'Brien singled to right in the third inning, scoring Palmeri.
- Later in the third, LeClair homered to right field, scoring O'Brien as well.
- Patrick McConnell scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by Jack Dorsey in the fifth inning.
- Joe Sylvester started the game on the bump for the Mules as the Colby pitchers combined for eight strikeouts.
Colby remains atop NESCAC East and is third overall in the conference. The Mules are set to face off against the Augustana College Vikings at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 24 in Auburndale, Florida.
