Amherst, Massachusetts - The #3 seed Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team traveled to Amherst to face the #2 seed Middlebury College Panthers on Friday night in the NESCAC semifinals. Colby fell to Middlebury 3-0, ending their season with an overall record of 17-8-1.
Coming off of a thrilling quarterfinal win at home against Wesleyan, the Mules were ready for action against Middlebury. They came out strong in the first period, shutting out the Panthers but were also unable to score themselves. In the second period Colby outshot Middlebury, but unfortunately let up a power play goal late in the period to send the Panthers into the second intermission with momentum and a 1-0 lead. The third period was a battle until the very end, when Middlebury scored an empty net goal in the final minute of regulation and added a third tally with 2 seconds left, to take the game 3-0. Grace Caligiuri made 25 saves against a strong Middlebury team.
This concludes the Mules' run in the NESCAC playoffs for the 2023-2024 season.
