Williamstown, Mass. - Racing continued at Jiminy Peak on Saturday with the second day of the Williams Carnival. Snow flurries throughout the morning challenged visibility and racers, but the snow was excellent and provided an amazing day of racing.
Harrison Digangi, hot off his result from a day earlier, looked to carry the momentum into the Slalom. Amidst a challenging set that took out nearly half of the field on the first run, the Mules persevered. Digangi finished fifth, his best Slalom result to date, and Noah Riemenschneider skied a quick second run to end the day in 11th. Patrick Coughlin provided the third score for the Mules in 19th place.
The women's side has shown remarkable speed in GS but has often struggled in Slalom this season. They showed impressive growth on the day, with Carissa Cassidy pacing the team in 12th, her best result as a Mule. Just behind Cassidy, Molly Mueller delivered another top-20 performance in 15th, and Hannah Soria added a third score in the 19th.
As a team the Mules finished third on the men's side and fourth on the women's side. Combined with the nordic team the effort was good enough for fifth place. The Mules will be back in action on Sunday as they continue racing in Massachusetts. They will travel to Catamount Mountain for the makeup of the University of Vermont Slalom, which will count as an NCAA Qualifier.
