Lewiston, Maine. - Colby faced off in a tight showdown against the Bobcats of Bates. The Mules ultimately fell to Bates 66-63.
Colby's first quarter saw a hard-fought defensive game by the Bobcats, holding the Mules to 12 points while they pushed to 16. Colby rallied in the second quarter, though, scoring an additional 16 points and holding Bates down to only 10. This switch-up put the Mules in the lead heading into the second half at a score of 28-25. The Bobcats weren't going down without a fight, however, finishing the third quarter with a slim lead over Colby at 45-44. Despite outstanding offensive performances by both teams, Bates edged out Colby in the end, outscoring them 21-19 in the fourth quarter for a final 66-63 score.
Kate Olenik's 25 points, nearly 40% of Colby's total for the game, was an incredible offensive help. Defensively, Olenik and
Lydia Mordarski tied for team-lead in steals, each contributing three.
Ana Von Rumohr had a double-double with 11 points and a huge 12 rebounds.
The Mules next face off at home this Saturday, December 7, at 3 against Bowdoin.
