Colby lights up SNHU for seven goals in Sunday's matchup

Brunswick, ME - The Colby College Mules (4-1-1) defeated the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen (4-6-0) by a score of 7-1 in their Sunday afternoon matchup. The Mules were akin to a freight train with a full head of steam, taking the lead early in the matchup and never looking back.

The Mules started hot in the first frame with a Reese Farrell goal just 2:53 into the game. Donovan O'Neil and Will Soloway assisted Farrell. Not even two minutes later, Massimo Gentile buried a shot to take a 2-0 lead off of assists from Jayden Grier and Jake MacDonald. Colby went dormant until 14:15, when Bobby Landry found the back of the net via assists from Max Abene and Will Molson.

Entering the second period up 3-0, the Mules methodically controlled the puck. With 14:24 elapsed, Landry again sounded the horn to take a 4-0 lead. Michael Buenzow and Javi Ubarri provided Landry with assists. Though the Penmen were able to score on a power play goal, Connor Gallagher retained the four-goal advantage with a goal with three minutes remaining in the frame. Soloway and Ubarri assisted Gallagher on his goal.

The Mules kept pouring it on in the third period. Nick Stapleton scored on a power-play opportunity, putting the Mules up 6-1 via assists from Michael Buenzow and Ubarri (the latter's third of the game). Kevin McElaney put the cherry on top in the closing minutes of the contest, scoring on passes from Gentile and Gallagher.

Cooper Rautenstrauch held SNHU to one goal on 15 shots, while the team won 47 faceoffs to SNHU's 25.

Colby will return to action on Tuesday, December 3 when they take on the University of Southern Maine Huskies in Gorham, ME at 3:00PM.
