Cambridge, Mass. - The Colby Women's Soccer team continued its magical run on Sunday with a 2-0 win over MIT in Boston.
MIT had suffered only one loss this season, but the Mules remained undaunted and dispatched the Engineers to keep the season going.
Colby scored just before halftime after turning back a number of MIT possessions.
Annie Liebich, who had the assist a day prior, took a shot from just past midfield that went just past the outstretched keepers' glove.
The Mules continued to be aggressive in the opening minutes of the second half, and in the 61st minute, an Engineer foul gave Liebich a free kick. She lofted a ball into the box that found the head of
Sophie DiGrande, who put it home to take a 2-0 lead.
Colby held off a last-ditch effort from MIT, and the celebrations ensued. The Mules will be in action next Saturday when they play Washington University, the reigning national runner-ups. This marks Colby's first time in the Sweet-16 in program history and puts them four wins away from a National Championship.
