Volleyball Triumphs 3-0 Over Coast Guard, Faces Defeat Against Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass.- In an exciting Saturday event, Babson Park played host to the Colby College Volleyball Team, who began impressively with another thrilling three-set victory over Coast Guard Academy (25-16, 25-20, 25-22). However, in the subsequent match, they faced a closely contested defeat against Babson College. These back-to-back games have brought Colby's overall record to 7-3.

The Mules stormed into the first game with a commanding 8-0 lead in the first set and maintained their early momentum throughout the set. Despite Coast Guard's efforts to catch up, the Bears ultimately fell to Colby with a score of 25-16. The Mules carried this momentum into the remaining two sets, thwarting Coast Guard's attempts to equalize and emerging victorious in all three sets. Brady Moseley was a standout performer with an impressive 11 kills on the offensive front and 12 digs on the defensive end. LJ Grant also made a significant impact with 10 kills, and Azariah Love contributed nine kills, all playing pivotal roles in the Mules' competitive performance. Jordan Lee played a crucial role with 21 assists, while Reanna Yadao once again showcased her ability to retrieve and control the ball in the backcourt, amassing a total of 14 digs. On the front side, Olivia Drayden registered 2.0 total blocks, adding to Colby's performance.

After their victory over Coast Guard, Colby clashed with Babson College, breaking their win streak. The match was a neck-and-neck battle, with both teams vying fiercely for the win. Colby fought tooth and nail and managed to secure the first set with an extended score of 26-24. Despite Colby's early dominance in the opening set, Babson College staged a comeback, winning the next three sets and ultimately clinching the victory over the Mules. Despite the loss, Colby displayed unwavering determination throughout the match. Brady Moseley emerged once again as a key offensive player, contributing nine kills. Hannah Wyllie and LJ Grant also played vital roles with four kills each. Sarah Friedrichs made her presence felt on the defensive end with an impressive 3.0 total blocks. On the defensive side, Reanna Yadao stood out with 19 digs, followed closely by Sophie Broesamle with 12. Jordan Lee added 12 assists to aid in the team's efforts, and sophomore Shayna Purrow secured three aces. Despite the setback, Colby's performance showcased their resilience and commitment to the game.

Up next, the Mules will prepare for their upcoming trip to Connecticut, where they aim to improve their NESCAC record with a fierce battle against Wesleyan University next Friday. All eyes will be on their comeback performance as they seek to make their mark in the competition.
