Waterville, ME - The Colby Men's Tennis team fell in an extremely tight 5-4 contest to the visiting Babson College Beavers on Saturday, April 1st.
The Mules fell behind 3-0 in the doubles. At line 1, the Colby tandem of senior captain Jan Wenger and sophomore Jake Cohen fell 8-6. On court 2, junior Sam Henry and sophomore James Bogdanovic lost 8-7. At 3rd doubles, junior captain Joey Barrett and freshman Aidan Kwong fell 8-5.
In the singles, senior Ben Powis put the Mules first point on the board at line 4, winning 6-0, 6-1. Later, Cohen added another point at line 2, winning 6-4, 6-2.
At line 3, Wenger fell 6-4, 6-3, giving the Beavers a 4-2 lead. At 1st singles, Barrett overcame his opponent 6-1, 7-5. Later, Henry cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at line 5, leveling the match at 4 matches apiece. It came down to Kwong on court 6, who ultimately fell 6-3, 7-6.
The Mules travel to Wesleyan to face the 16th ranked Cardinals on Sunday, April 2nd.
