Colby Runs Streak to Nine in a Row

BRUNSWICK, Maine. - On Wednesday evening, the 12th-ranked Women's Lacrosse Team continued their winning streak with their ninth straight victory and fifth NESCAC win, defeating Bowdoin College 20-9. The Polar Bears dropped to 4-8 (2-6 NESCAC) while the Mules improved to 9-3 (5-2 NESCAC).

Colby started strong with Elizabeth Hennessey scoring on a free-position shot within the first two minutes of the game. They continued to dominate throughout the first quarter, taking a 5-2 lead by the end of the opening 15 minutes. In the second quarter, the Mules extended their lead by outscoring the Polar Bears 6-3, taking an 11-5 edge into halftime. The second half saw Colby maintain their momentum, adding another six goals in the third quarter and three more in the final one bringing the Mules to another victory in this already-successful season. 

Hennessey led the way for Colby with four goals and one assist, while Ally Franz, Annie Eddy, and Gianna Bruno contributed three goals each. Sophomore Ainsley Dion and goalkeeper Sarah Hearns also had strong performances with Dion tallying two goals and two assists and Hearns making three saves in the win. Colby held a significant advantage in shots, outshooting Bowdoin 29-21.

Next up for Colby is a home game against Middlebury College on Saturday as they aim to continue their winning ways.
