Georgetown, TX - Colby Women's Tennis fell to 18th ranked Southwestern University 6-3 on Thursday, March 23rd.
Southwestern claimed 2 out of the 3 doubles matches by close scores. Junior captains Sam Riordan and Sydney Landau won 8-6 at 1st doubles for the Mules. Freshmen Bella Suk and Maddie Omicioli lost a tight battle 8-7 at line 2 and senior captain Caleigh McClain and freshman Amelie Gal fell 8-2 at line 3.
In the singles, Riordan was edged on court 1 7-5, 6-2. At line 2 Landau pulled out a 3 hour long battle, overcoming her opponent 5-7, 7-6, 6-3. Freshman Ellie Gershaw added another point for the Mules on line 3, winning 6-4, 6-3.
At line 4, Suk forced her opponent to a 3rd set, but ultimately fell 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
The Mules face Trinity Texas to finish out their spring break trip on Friday, March 24th.
