Davenport, Fla. - The Colby Baseball team came from behind in game 1 against St. Olaf to walk-off with a 3-2 victory. In game 2, the Mules upended the Oles 9-3 to complete the sweep. Colby improves to 8-3, 5-1 on the trip. St. Olaf fell to 3-4 on the season.
Game 1 Highlights:
- Nicholas Thompson got the start for the Mules, going 4.0 innings and striking out six while allowing two runs and no walks. Derek Woods and Jack Bohrer were stellar in relief, keeping the Oles scoreless and preparing Colby for a remarkable finish.
- Down 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th inning, Patrick McConnell tripled and scored one batter later on a Marcus Forrester double. Genki LeClair reached with a walk, and after advancing to third with one out, scored on a Matthew Panker sacrifice fly to complete the walk-off.
Game 2 Highlights:
- The Mules wasted no time plating runs in the nightcap, scoring six times in the first four innings, and collecting runs in five of the seven innings played.
- Panker carried his momentum into the second game, going 2-3 at the plate with a double, a triple, scoring twice while knocking in two.
- Forrester scored three times, collecting two more hits to lead Colby with 17 on the year.
- Julian Erro carried the bulk of the load on the mound, throwing six innings of one-run baseball.
Colby caps the spring break trip Saturday when they face off against Augustana.
