Waterville, ME - The Colby Men's Tennis Team defeated 24th ranked Brandeis by a convincing score of 8-1.
The Mules found themselves with momentum early on in the match, winning at lines 1 and 3 in the doubles. Senior captain Jan Wenger and sophomore Jake Cohen defeated the Brandeis tandem of Dylan Walters and Tommy Harrison 8-5 on court 1 and junior captain Joey Barrett and freshman Aidan Kwong dominated on court 3 by a score of 8-0.
Cohen gave the Mules their first point in the singles as he took down Harrison 6-1, 6-2 at 2nd singles. Wenger put the Mules one step closer as he came back from losing the first set at line 3. He defeated Simon Kauppila of Brandeis 0-6, 6-2, 6-0.
Senior Ben Powis clinched the match for the Mules at line 4 by defeating Brandeis senior Hunter Levine 7-6(6), 6-1. Though the match was clinched, the Mules continued to battle with wins from Barrett at line 1 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 and junior Sam Henry 7-5, 1-6, 10-7 at line 5.
Kwong also showcased a dominant win at line 6, beating Jack Goldstein of Brandeis 6-0, 6-0.
The Mules travel to Texas for spring break to continue their spring season.
