Tied at the Break, Williams Slips Past Colby

Waterville, MAINE- The Mules returned to the field this afternoon, hoping to put together a winning streak following their midweek victory against St. Joseph's. Tied at the break against NESCAC power Williams, the Ephs rode a stellar third quarter to outpace the Mules 15-8 down the stretch.  The loss takes the Mules to 1-2 and the Ephs to 2-1.

Colby played some of their best defense of the season in the first half as they caused problems for the Williams clear, keeping them at 75 percent. They also dominated the face-off spot, with Justin Turley winning eight of his first face-offs to the Williams four. The Mules were led in scoring with two goals from each Nick Hassan and Henry Popko and a goal from Jack Goller.

The second half saw Colby slow down as they could not keep pace with the Ephs as they were outscored 7-2 in the third quarter. The Mules received two goals from Goller and another from Hassan in the second half. Other statistical highlights for Colby include six groundballs from Brooks Rayment and three others with three a piece. Matt Suffredini had seven saves in the loss.

Colby returns to action on March 15th against Maine Maritime Academy at 7 pm in Castine, Maine.
