Mules Seniors Command the Field to Earn a Win on Senior Day

Waterville, Maine — Today, we recognized Colby's nine seniors as they played their last game home game of the season. Throughout the game, the senior class had a phenomenal showing, ending with a 4-0 win over the nationally ranked Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Immediately going into the first half, Colby's Sophie DiGrande tested MIT's defensive line with a saved shot on goal. Pepper Joseph, Madison Genser, and Abigail Jarvi all followed this first shot up with numerous other attempts. In the 18th minute, Jackie Portogallo fed senior Pepper Joseph the ball who put the first point on the board to gain a 1-0 lead. This was Joseph's third goal of the season. Another Mule's goal was scored in the 34th minute by senior Corrigan Rayhill, her first of the season, widening the lead to 2-0. MK Marshall tallied up three saves for the half, keeping MIT with zero goals on the board.

After the first half, Colby's seniors proved they showed up wanting to take home the win for their Senior Day, and the Mules continued to dominate in the second half, as well. Sophie DiGrande was granted a penalty kick due to an MIT foul in the box, leading to Colby's third goal of the game. This is DiGrande's fourth goal of the season. In the last three minutes of the game, senior Maxine Jamison substituted into the net, making her appearance for Senior Day and honoring her successful career in net for the Mules. Finally, in the 89th minute, senior back Lucy Robinson scored her second goal of her career to end the game with a 4-0 win over #9 MIT.

On Tuesday, October 24th, the Mules will travel to Bates College at 8:00 p.m. for their last regular season game of the year.
