Volleyball Dominates Brandeis in a Four-Set Sweep

WALTHAM, Mass. – In a thrilling showdown at Red Auerbach Arena, the Colby Volleyball Team faced off against Brandeis University and emerged victorious with a solid 3-1 victory, igniting hopes of reinitiating a winning streak. The team records now stand in the Mules' favor at 7-5, while Brandeis holds a record of 6-7. The sets unfolded with scores of 27-25, 23-25, 25-18, and 25-21, highlighting Colby's resilient performance and the closely contested nature of this matchup.

The first set went into extra points, with the Mules clinching it in their favor by escaping the first set point and finishing strong with a 4-1 run, securing a 27-25 win. Brandeis rallied in the second set, winning it by a narrow margin of 25-23. However, Colby responded with determination in the third set, taking an early lead with a 6-2 start and ultimately winning 25-18. The fourth set showcased another impressive start by the Mules as they outscored Brandeis 8-2 in the initial 10 points. While the Judges managed to tie the score at 18-all, Colby surged ahead with a commanding 6-1 run, reaching 24-19. Although Brandeis evaded the first two match points, it was Brady Moseley who sealed the deal and secured a well-deserved victory.

Inside the box score, first-year Moseley made quite an impression by achieving three of her season highs in this game, with an impressive 18 kills out of the Mules' total of 58 and contributing to a total of 20.5 points. She further teamed up with Kamalani Enomoto on the defensive front, with each of them recording 13 digs. Tallying closely behind on the offensive front are Emma Davis with 11 kills, Olivia Drayden with eight kills and four blocks, and Marjorie Johnson with seven kills, all achieving their season highs in this game as well. Hannah Wyllie also made her presence felt with six kills, six aces, and two blocks, while Azariah Love added three blocks and six kills. In terms of assists, first-year Gabby Grujic led the charge for Colby with an impressive 25 assists and 10 digs, followed closely by Allison Rodriguez, who contributed 20 assists to the team's success.
