Waterville, Maine - On a chilly Tuesday night the Mules hosted the University of Maine Farmington Beavers in their third non-conference matchup of the year. The team triumphed in a 3-1 win that was more one-sided then the score indicated.
The Colby attack flexed its muscles recovering from a shutout against Trinity. Freshmen Sophie Digrande scored twice to bring her season goal tally up to four which leads the team. Her Freshmen teammate
Jadyn Liebman added a goal of her own and had a great set piece off a corner kick for the assist.
UMF scored first on a shot from just outside the 18 yard box that went over the head of keeper
Emily McMaster. The Mules remained calm and dominated possession through the rest of the half. They were able to get one back and then take the lead in quick sucession looking well in control by halftime. The Mules put the game out of reach with a goal in the 50th minute and despite some strong chances were unable to find the back of the net again.
Colby was a constant presence in the UMF box with a whopping 34 shots, 16 of which were on target which made it a very busy day for the Farmington keeper. They also drew 19 corner kicks emblematic of the high number of shots they took. The Mules used a full team effort with 25 players seeing minutes.
Colby now prepares for there biggest weekend to date with two NESCAC matchups scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The first of which against the Williams College Ephs where the Mules are winless in their last 10 matchups. That game will kickoff at 11am on the Mark Serdjenian Field.
