Colby Mules Win Home Opener against Maine Maritime

Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Men's Lacrosse team's first home game of the season was against Maine Maritime Academy. Protecting their house with determination the Colby Mules won their first home game of the 2022 season over the Mariners 21-5.

Colby started the game strong, maintaining offensive possession throughout the first half. They were able to score quick goals early with relentless pursuit ending the second quarter with a score 14-0 at the break. Colby's overpowering offense and aggressive defense were led by Brooks Rayment and Jason Baisley making play after play.

The Mules remained dominant in the second half on both ends of the field.  With play slowed with a running clock and Colby transitioned to using their entire shot clock, Maine Maritime was able to keep pace and find success of their own, scoring three goals in the third and two more in the fourth.

On the day, Colby's top offensive threat Jack Rickards scored four goals and added one assist, First-year Matt Stein not only scored his first collegiate points, but he tallied four goals against the Mariners.  Sophomore Max Solmssen scored a career-high four assists. The Mules used four different goalies in the winning effort.
