Box Score Waterville, ME - The Men's Baseball Team hosted Husson in their third game of the season, March 16th, at 4:00 PM. Before the matchup Colby had played two games against University of Maine Presque Isle, which both occurred on March 5th. The Mules were undefeated in those two games, and were hoping to stay the same way after this one. They did, winning eight to 3.Â
Charlie Jodka got the start for Colby, and with the start he also got the win. Jodka pitched only two innings, allowing two runs in the first and zero in the second before being pulled from the game. Nick Thompson came in in relief, pitching another three innings for the Mules. In that time, he allowed only four hits and two runs.
Julian Erro,
John Doyle,
Jack Pletter, and
Cabot Maher all got time on the mound as well. Together they allowed only one hit and one run. Â
On the other side of the plate Colby was electric, putting up eight runs on 14 hits. The runs were scored pretty evenly throughout the game, with two coming in the first, four in the fourth, and one in the fifth as well as the sixth. Husson scored two quick runs in the first, but was only able to score one more time in the top of the seventh. The Mules simply had more bats rolling than Husson did. Those bats includedÂ
Cabot Maher who led the team in at bats, hits, and RBIs. He had five at bats for three hits and three RBIs.
Brady O'Brien had a fantastic day at the plate as well, hitting a double and a triple for an RBI and one run of his own. He was also walked three times in his other three at bats.
Caleb Jung also had a great day swining the bat, with three hits on four at bats. One of those hits was a double, one created an RBI, and one allowed Caleb to score a run of his own.Â
The Colby Baseball Team should be very happy with their start to the season and will certainly look to keep the momentum rolling when they face Endicott College this Saturday, March 19th, at 2:00 PM.Â
