Biddeford, Maine - The Colby College Women's Lacrosse team improved to 3-1 on the season with an 18-3 win over the Nor'Easters of the University of New England.
The Mules scored early and often, finding the back of the net nine times in the first quarter and three more times in the second to build a 12-0 lead at halftime. Colby dominated the half in shots on goal (17:3), ground balls (20:9), and draw controls (9:4), and smothered the Nor'Easters clear attempts, forcing turnovers on 12 of 16 attempts. Play slowed down in the second half, but the Mules still held a 5-3 scoring advantage, pushing the final tally to 18-3.
Twelve different Mules scored on the evening, led by
Annie Eddy with three.
Gianna Bruno,
Elizabeth Hennessey,
Tori Congdon, and
Kins Helmer each scored two. Bruno led Colby with four assists and six points. She leads Colby on the year with ten assists.
The Mules are back in action on Saturday when they head to Middletown, Conn. to take on #11 Wesleyan University. Game time is set for 12:00pm.
