Johnson All-American at NCAA Indoor Champs

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Sharde Johnson jumped 1.67m in the High Jump at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, placing fourth and earning her third All-American award of her career.  Earning points for Colby College (the top-eight in each event score), Colby ended the national meet tied for 41st in the country in a field of over 230 colleges and universities.

On Friday, Sade Greenidge competed in the 200m preliminaries, finishing with a time of 25.62.  Her dash missed qualifications for the finals heat by just over three tenths of a second, landing her in 17th place.  Greenidge was the second NESCAC finisher in the event behind Grace Devanny of Wesleyan University.  Later that afternoon, Tyler Morris competed in the 5000m, racing his way to 10th place in 14:29.26. Morris was the top NESCAC finisher, edging out Jeffrey Love of Conn. College and Grahm Tuohy Gaydos and Elias Lindgren of Williams College.

sharde johnsonJohnson had to wait until Saturday for her event, but the wait was worth it.  The reigning NCAA Outdoor High Jump champion cleared 1.67m in her first attempt, but failed to clear the next height (1.70) in three attempts.  Her personal best of 1.78m came in the winter of 2020, ranking herself in the top-eight marks in NCAA Division III history at the time.  Jaidyn Appel of Tufts University won the event with a jump of 1.76m.

The Mules will have a brief respite before refocusing their sights on the spring season, set to begin over spring break in Atlanta, Ga.
