Franconia, N.H. - After six weeks of high-intensity racing, the EISA Carnival Circuit drew to a close this Saturday, with the GS portion of the UNH carnival marking the end of the road.
If athletes thought that they could coast through the last race they were mistaken as a firm but bumpy track emerged from the whiteout of Friday's race. The Colby women skied very well putting three more athletes in the top-30. Leading the team was Ella Spear, who has officially qualified for NCAA championships. Spear was the third fastest of division three athletes, landing in 11th. Also scoring was Meagan Olsen, who matched her strong result a day prior finishing in 24th, and first-year Molly Mueller finished in 27th.
The men's race was stopped halfway through the second run due to unsafe conditions. Nevertheless, it was Patrick Coughlin who stepped up in the second run to finish in 14th, the fourth fastest of division 3 skiers.
After the dust settled, it was confirmed that Spear and Chauncey Morgan had qualified for NCAA Championships. They will be traveling to Park City, Utah to race on the infamous CB's Hill with the best skiers across NCAA Skiing.
While Spear and Morgan prepare for NCAA's, the Mules will be racing across New England in the coming month as they finish the season strong.
