Castleton, VT- The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team battled against the SUNY Potsdam Bears in the first round of the Castleton Tournament. The Mules defeated the Bears 5-1 to secure the victory and advance to the championship round. The Mules remain undefeated at 7-0-0 for the season and remain at 2-0-0 in NESCAC conference play.
Colby came into the game determined for another win and
Meg Rittenhouse quickly scored off the first shot of the game. The Mules continued to showcase their strong offense with
Meg Rittenhouse's second goal of the game.
Audrey Shirer scored off an assist by
Breanna Studley for the first goal of the second period. Sophomore
Lily Wisniewski got her first point of the season off an assist to
Bri Michaud-Nolan.
Courtney Schumacher scored the sole goal of the third period with 5:20 left off assists by
Breanna Studley and
Bri Michaud-Nolan. Overall Colby won 32 out of 57 face offs and maintained a defensive and offensive presence to move on to the next round.
Tomorrow Colby College Women's Ice Hockey will play the Castleton University Spartans in the championship game of the Castleton Tournament at 4:00 pm.
