Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Colby Dominates Thomas for 101-58 Victory

Waterville, MAINE- The Mule's home opener saw them come up against crosstown rivals Thomas following a solid start to the season. The strong start continued as the Mules made easy work of the visiting Terriers as they took a 56-31 halftime lead, which became a 43-point blowout. The win takes the Mules to 3-0 and the Terriers to 0-3.

Colby continued their trend from the weekend of strong starts and hit their shots quickly. The Mules had their most productive half of the season, as they scored 56 points and limited the Terriers to only 31. Senior Cooper Wirkala led the scoring output, with 23 of his 35 total points in the first half alone. However, the scoring did not stop there as he was complemented with production from everyone, including 8 points from Will King. Stringent defense and strong rebounding were additional factors in a dominant first half.

The second half saw much of the same story as aggressive defense, good rebounding, and productive shots allowed Colby to grow their lead and crack 100 points for the first time this season. Colby's second-half scoring was again led by Wirkala with 12 points, while Liam O'Connell added 10 points. Wirkala finished the game by setting a new Colby Men's Basketball record with ten 3-pointers in a game.

The Mules will continue their season on the road when they take on the University of Chicago at noon on November 19th.
