Waterville, MAINE - A day after a tough loss to the 11th-ranked Tufts Jumbos, Colby Women's Soccer came back out to the field to square off against the Bengals from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. The Mules emerged victorious with a final score of 1-0, moving their overall season record to 3-2-1 while issuing the Bengals their first loss of the season.

The first period ended scoreless thanks to strong performances from both teams' goalies. The Mules kept the pressure on, with two shots on the goal by
Mia Cromwell '24, and additional attempts from
Pepper Joseph '24 and
Sophia Saleh '25. UMFK keeper Dominique Valadez played tough, showing why the Bengals had only surrendered one goal on the year coming into the contest.Â

The Mules secured their lead early in the second period when
Charlotte White '22 scored a goal 14 minutes into the half. The goal followed a barrage of shot attempts, one from White and another from
Lilly Fagan '24, before White found the back of the net. The Mules held the Bengals scoreless for the remainder of the game while maintaining offensive pressure, tallying four more shot attempts – two from
Kerrie Verbeek '23 and two from
Michaela Cosgriff '25. Meanwhile, attempts by the Bengals were successfully blocked and saved by a strong Mules defense, posting their second shutout of the week.
