Waterville, ME- The Colby College Field Hockey team trekked their way across town to Elm City rival, Thomas College. Coming off a bye-weekend the Mules set out against the Terriers ready to build off of their strong performance last week.
The Mules got off to a strong start this game, on a goal 1:30 into the match by First-Year Sandrine Brien. The consistent play of the Mules held the Terriers scoreless despite giving up two penalty corners in the first half.
Leading 1-0 at the start of the second half of the match, the Mules were able to put more pressure on the Terrier defense and draw penalty corners to wear out the defenders. Senior Captain Sally Cassidy was able to put her first goal of the year into the cage on an assist by First-Year Mya Salazar, her first collegiate point.
The Mules were able to hold off the Terrier's strong offensive push towards the end of the match, being led defensively by Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Loeb, with seven saves and earning her first career shutout. The Mules would eventually win 2-0.
The Mules travel to Hartford, CT for their first NESCAC match of the season against Trinity College on Saturday, September 18, at 11:30 AM. Face coverings for spectators will be required at this match.
