Waterville, Maine - Colby Men's Tennis took its first NESCAC win over visiting Connecticut College on Saturday, April 3rd with a 9-0 victory. The cold temperatures and wind was no problem for the Mules, as they set the tone early with a clean sweep of the three doubles matches. Leading the charge was the number one doubles team pairing of junior Jan Wenger and freshman Joey Barrett, who took an 8-3 victory. The number two doubles team pairing of senior Sumukh Pathi and sophomore Ben Powis took a 8-2 win, as did the number three pairing of junior Max Schuermann and freshman Sam Henry. The Mules continued their strong momentum into the singles, winning five out of the six matches in straight sets. Number one singles player Jan Wenger edged out a nail-biter of a third set tiebreaker for a 6-0,1-6,10-7 victory, using his strong first serve and clean backhand to great effect.
 

For Joey Barrett, the best part of the day was knowing that the Mules have positive energy and momentum with them as they prepare for the next match. "It was a blast to compete as a team today and start the NESCAC season on a positive note. I'm looking forward to getting back on the match court as a group next weekend. Go Mules!"

Colby will next travel to Trinity College on Saturday, April 10th for a match that will take place at 2pm.
