Mules Split with the Bantams

Waterville, Maine - The Mules faced the Trinity College Bantams in another double header matchup this Sunday, looking to bounce back from two tough losses the day before. Game one proved to be a tough match, as the Mules were unable to score against the Bantams, losing 2-0. Game two showed the power the Mules have behind their swings, long hits bringing in runs for the Mules, giving them a 3-2 win.

Elijah Cohen started for the Mules in game one, pitching 4.0 innings and striking out three. While Cohen was mostly able to contain the Bantam's offense, the Mules had quiet bats, having only four hits over seven innings of play. Senior Frank Driscoll came in to relieve Cohen at the start of the fifth inning, finishing the game, not allowing any more runs and striking out five Bantams.

Maher 2020-21Game two was led by junior Cabot Maher (pictured left). Coming into the bottom of the first down one run, Maher hit a home run over the left field wall, tying the game. Marcus Forrester was able to bring in Cole Palmeri on an RBI double to left field in the second inning. Cabot Maher continued his offensive streak by singling in another run to give the Mules a 3-1 lead after four full innings. First-year Nicholas Thompson was able to keep the Bantam bats quiet until he gave up one more run in the fifth inning. Matthew Scibilio came in to relieve Thompson and finish off the inning for the Mules, not allowing any more Bantams to score. Cabot Maher proved to be the ultimate utility player for the Mules today, coming in the sixth inning to take the mound. Facing eight batters through 2.0 innings pitched, Maher struckout four, not allowing any runs and securing the 3-2 victory for the Mules.

The Mules will head to Lewiston, Maine next weekend to play the Bobcats of Bates College in a double header with tentative start times for 1 and 3 PM. Bates College does not allow any spectators to be on campus for these games, as they will be available for streaming off of the Mule's schedule. Remember to wear a mask and go Mules!
