Outdoor Facility Highlight 8: Alfond-Wales Tennis Courts

Waterville, MAINE - Throughout the Second Semester, Colby Athletics will be running a series on our outdoor venues.  Each Field/stadium/venue offers a multitude of specific advantages to maximize the capacity of our varsity programs, and it's time for you to get to know them.

VOLUME 8 - Alfond-Wales Tennis Courts/Klein Tennis Pavilion

The Alfond-Wales Tennis Courts surround the Klein Tennis Pavilion, and the complex serves as the home venue for the Colby men's and women's tennis teams.

tennisThe 10 hard courts were recently resurfaced and are adorned with Colby's blue and grey team colors. They are conveniently laid out in four, separate enclosures providing an inviting match-day atmosphere for players and spectators. The beautifully-designed Klein Tennis Pavilion, built through the generosity of Jonas and Phyllis Klein and dedicated in 1994, sits in the center of the complex and provides a meeting room, scoreboard, veranda, and lavatory.

In addition to being the main practice and match facility for the Colby tennis teams, the Alfond-Wales Tennis Courts have been the host site for Maine high school state championships.

Coach Adam Reeb"We are fortunate to have the Alfond-Wales Tennis Courts and Klein Tennis Pavilion for our outdoor tennis training and competition. This 10-court facility benefits us tremendously by offering the best student-athlete experience and helping our players develop and grow. With the addition of PlaySight on our courts, we can record practices and stream matches, which is such a valuable tool for match analysis, as well as engaging our fans. We are grateful to have access to such a great facility."
- Adam Reeb, Men's and Women's Head Tennis Coach
