Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Ice Hockey Travels to Biddeford to Play UNE in Double-Header Weekend

Biddeford, Maine - The Mules traveled to play the Nor'Easters in a double header weekend, falling 4-0 to end their first weekend.

hapwardThe Men's Hockey team had a tough turnaround.  To play two games back to back in a normal season can be challenging, but to do it the first weekend back is another challenge in itself.  So while a 4-0 loss may sting, it gives the Mules something to fuel their practices in the next weeks.  Today was not without good things, however.  Goalkeeper CJ Hapward had an impressive 91% save percentage with 41 saves.  Hapward held his ground throughout the game making a strong foundation for the Mules to build forward from.

UNE's first goal was on a power play, setting up momentum for the Nor'Easters that the Mules were able to hold off the rest of the period.  UNE was able to start each period with a goal, leaving Colby to play catch up, but with little success in terms of goals scored.  The Mules were able to hold the Nor'Easters to even game play after they settled into each period. Colby only trailed in shots on goal 30 to 45 and were unable to convert on their three offensive power plays.  Colby was able to hold the Nor'Easters to only score on one of their five power plays.  There is work to do there is no doubt that the team will put in the work on the ice this week in preparation for their games next weekend when they play another double header against University of Southern Maine.
