Colby Field Hockey Closes Season at Bates

Lewiston, Maine- The Colby Field Hockey team headed to Lewiston to play the Bobcats of Bates College in their final match of the season.

The Mules were looking to challenge Bates as they were fighting for the last spot in the NESCAC Tournement. Unfortunately, the Bobcats proved to be too much for the Mules and would win the match 5-1.

Regardless of the loss, down 3-0 in the second half, junior Hig Sevigny scored her first goal of the season on a juicy rebound from the Bates goalkeeper. While the Mules struggled offensively, the defense held strong led by senior Molly Thomas, making a stellar defensive save during her final match for the Mules. Hattie Baker made three saves in net tonight for the Mules, capping off a very well played rookie season.

While the outcome was not what was wanted, the Mules still played hard for a full sixty minutes and provided strong competition to a skillful Bates team. With no games remaining in the season, we would like to thank the three seniors. Sally Cassidy, Molly Thomas, and Sydney Turner have left their mark on this program and been amazing leaders and incredible role models for their teammates during their four years with this program.
