Colby hits early and often, runs record to 3-1

Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Lacrosse team finished their double-header weekend with some fun in the sun against Plymouth State University.  The Mules won 17-1 to finish off a winning weekend moving themselves to 3-1 overall.

GAME NOTES: The women's lacrosse team finished out a long weekend of playing with energy and style.  With multiple different scorers the offense let loose and had fun making different combinations, quick stick goals, crease rolls, and a behind-the-back from Lyla Jones (7).

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES: 

  • The Mules had 10 different scorers today.  Taylor Moore (13) and Robyn Pirie (17) each had a hat trick.

  • Gianna Bruno (11) stood out as a feeder for the Mules with three assists on the day.

  • Chiamaka Ubani (18) led the team in ground balls totaling seven.

  • Eliza Dean (88) dominated the draw control at the beginning of the game with five straight controlled draws.  Colby showed the depth on the draw throughout the rest of the game winning 16 out of 21.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE PANTHERS: 

  • Meg McAndrew (6) had the only goal for the Panthers today.

  • Plymouth State had 14 saves.

  • Plymouth State was successful on all but one clear.

KEY STATS:

  • Colby had 39 ground balls to Plymouth State's 17.

  • The Mules' aggressive defense resulted in 12 fouls to Plymouth State's 5.

  • Colby unleashed 40 shots to Plymouth State's 7.

NEXT MATCHUP: The Mules have a quick turnaround from their busy weekend to travel to University of New England in Biddeford, Maine on Tuesday at 4:30pm.
