Colby finishes season with battle against Connecticut College, lose 2-1

NEW LONDON, Conn.- The Colby College Men's Ice Hockey team finished their season with a battle against Connecticut College.  The Mules fell 2-1.

GAME NOTES:  With the team down 2-0 entering the final frame. Colby slapped the puck in to cut the deficit. Outshooting the Camels 9-7 in the third period, Colby could not tie up the game. The Mules finish the season 7-14-3 overall (3-13-2 NESCAC).

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES:

  • Jalen Kaplan scored his first collegiate point at 9:51 of the third period. Michael Morrissey and Justin Grillo assisted on the score.
  • Andrew Tucci finished his career at Colby with 28 saves on the day.  His career save percentage moves to .911 and goals allowed average goes to 2.63.
  • Spencer Hewson and Logan Clarke led the team with three shots on goal.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE CAMELS:

  • Paul Capozzi found the back of the net at 6:20 of the second period. Eric Fournier assisted on the play.
  • The power play unit capitalized on the advantage, rifling the puck at the 10:13 mark. Jacob Moreau and Matt Creamer with the assists.
  • In goal Avery Gobbo tallied 19 saves.

KEY STATS:

  • J.P. Schuhlen finishes his senior year leading the team with 13 points (four goals, nine assists).
  • Carter Breitenfeldt and Alex Bourhas led the first year skaters with 10 points each (five goals, five assists).
