Women's Ice Hockey battles back to tie Conn College, 3-3 OT

NEW LONDON, Conn.-  The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team battled back from a 2-0 deficit, to earn the 3-3 OT tie against Connecticut College.

GAME NOTES:  The Mules now sit at 13-5-5 overall (8-3-4 NESCAC).

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES:

  • On the power play, Lexi Cafiero rifled the puck into the net at 8:53 of the second period. Tess Dupre and Bri Michaud-Nolan assisted on the advantage.
  • Less than sixty seconds later Tate Senden (photo inset) scored her first goal of the season. Stephanie Lane and Madi Aumann carried the puck into the offensive zone at 9:34.
  • Down 3-2 with 40 seconds left in regulation Lauren Klein found the back of the net at 19:20. Dupre and McKinley Karpa assisted on the game tying goal.
  • Cierra San Roman finished with 27 saves on the day.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE CAMELS:

  • Samantha Hunt scored the first goal for Trinity unassisted at 4:13 of the opening frame.
  • The power play increased the lead at 14:53 with Erin Dillon netting the puck. Kylie Wilkes assisted on the advantage.
  • Trinity took control again on the power play at 17:45 of the final frame of regulation. Sammi Estes found the net off of passes by Melanie Conca and Kaaren Liston.
  • Abby Wieczorek tallied 21 saves in net for the Bantams.

KEY STATS:

  • Trinity controlled the shots on goal, 30-24.
  • The Bantams took the majority of the faceoffs, 31 of 59.

NEXT MATCHUP: Colby finished the regular season travelling to Amherst College. Friday's game (2/21)  is scheduled for 7:00pm.
