Mules fall to Trinity, 3-0

HARTFORD, Conn.- The Colby College Men's Ice Hockey team played a strong 60 minutes against Trinity College, but fell to the Bantams 3-0.

GAME NOTES: Before the weekend's  contest Trinity held the number one ranking in D3 ice hockey. Through two periods the Mules kept the game at one goal deficit. The Bantams scored two goals in the first six minutes of the final frame. Colby now goes to 2-7-0 in NESCAC play, 5-8-2 overall.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES:

  • Andrew Tucci (photo inset) saw lots of shots come his way, stopping 42.
  • Four Colby players each finished with three shots on goal.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THe BANTAMS:

  • Lucas Michaud scored the lone goal in the first period at the 4:37 mark. Barclay Gammill assisted on the play.
  • Cole Poliziani rocketed the puck into the net at 2:38 of the third period. Jack McCarthy and Paul Selleck tallied the assists.
  • Trinity scored on the power play with a Michael Grande goal at 5:49. Liam Feeney and Michaud assisted on the man advantage.
  • Teddy Loughborough earned the shutout victory with 25 saves.

KEY STATS:

  • The Bantams out shot the Mules 45-25.
  • Trinity controlled the faceoffs 32-27.
  • Both teams visited the penalty box, each having six infractions.

QUOTE: "Really thought we played around 50 real good minutes against the number one team in the nation.  Scoring goals continues to be a big concern. We create chances but don't finish. Next weekend will be another tough test against teams ahead of us.  One of these weekends I expect us to breakout," said the Jack Kelley Head Coach for Colby Men's Hockey Blaise MacDonald.

NEXT MATCHUP: Colby now looks on to face Williams College at home this Friday, 1/24. Game time is 7:00pm.
