Colby falls in overtime to conference opponent Connecticut College

New London, CT – The Colby College Women's Basketball team falls on the road in overtime to conference opponent Connecticut College in close contest 70-67.

GAME NOTES

  • The Mules and Camels exchanged leads throughout the first half. Colby took a one point lead at the end of the first and The Connecticut College Camels were able to gain the edge in the second quarter. The score was tied up at 29 going into halftime. The back and forth action continued in the second half with the game coming down to the wire. Brooke Guiffre hit two big throws with 27 seconds remaining to bring the game into overtime. The battle continued in overtime but Claire Gulbin of Connecticut College hit a three with five seconds left to put away Colby.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES

  • Alisha Aube led the Mules offensively with 18 points and added five rebounds. She went 5-8 from the free throw line.
  • Ainsley Burns (photo insert) finished with a double-double for Colby with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Brooke Guiffre and Grace Coutu added 13 and eight points respectively.
  • Paige Russell and Keagan Dunbar each had six points for the Mules.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE CAMELS

  • Claire Gulbin led all scorers with 19 points and had six rebounds.
  • Casey Walsh went 6-13 from the field finishing with 16 points and led the team with nine rebounds.
  • Molly Cronin and Sami Ashton each added 10 points.  

KEY STATS

  • Colby's bench outscored Connecticut College 16-10.
  • The Mules scored 34 points in the paint and went 5-6 as a team from the free throw line.

  • Colby will play at conference opponent Trinity College on Saturday, January 11 at 3:00 PM.
