Men's Ice Hockey rallies but falls 6-3 to UMass-Boston

WATERVILLE, ME- The Colby College Men's Hockey team went down early and could not battle back, losing to the University of Massachusetts at Boston 6-3.

Highlights for the Mules:

  • Velan Nandhakumaran opened up Colby scoring at 9:34 in the second period on a power play.
  • Logan Clarke scored at 16:39 in the second period.
  • Jacob Thousand scored at 14:25 in the third period on a power play.

Highlights for the Beacons:

  • The Beacons took the early lead with three goals on five shots. 
  • Chris peters at 2:54 in the first period.
  • Ethan Nitkin 4:33 in the first period.
  • Derek Caruso at 5:58 in the first period, and 19:19 in the second period. 
  • Ethan Nitkin (Nolan Redler)  at 4:57 in the third period. 
  • Nolan Redler (Joe Petruzzella & Billy Grant) at 9:34 in the third period on a power play.

Key Stats: 

  • The Mules and Beacons were even with 23 shots on goal each. UMass goaltender Nolan Egbert made 20/23 saves, while Colby goaltender Andrew Tucci made 17/23. 
  • Colby was awarded 10 minutes on the power play due to 5 UMass infractions, and was able to capitalize, scoring two goals.
