Women's basketball uses 13-0 run to fight back for win over Regis

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Colby College women's basketball team used a 13-0 run in the fourth quarter for a 58-56 victory over Regis University on the second day of the Bowdoin College Coastal Classic on Saturday.
 
The Mules are 1-1 overall and will play at local rival Thomas College at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
 
By the numbers
* Colby first-year Keagan Dunbar (pictured) had a game-high 15 points and added three assists. Ainsley Burns finished with 10 points and six rebounds, while Katie McCrum had nine points, four rebounds, and three assists.
 
* Sarah Hancock had eight points, seven rebounds, and two assists for the Mules. She shot 3-for-4 from the field and made two of her three 3-point shots. Jackie Albanese also had eight points and Paige Russell hit all six of her free throws for six points.
 
* Maura Russell was 5-for-7 from the field for 13 points for Regis (0-2 overall).
 
Game highlights
* The Mules led 13-12 after one quarter, but Regis had 19 points in the second quarter to go up 31-26 at halftime.
 
* Trailing 46-39 after three quarters, the Mules had a dream start to the final quarter. Albanese nailed a 3-point shot to make it 46-42 and Dunbar cut it to two points with a pair of free throws. Burns hit a jumper to tie the game at 46-46 with 7:18 to play and then took the lead when Dunbar nailed a three with 6:46 to play. Albanese hit another 3-point shot to end the run and give the Mules a 52-46 lead.
 
* Dunbar gave Colby a 56-50 lead with a jumper with 1:42 to play. Regis cut the margin to 56-54, but McCrum hit one free throw with 16 seconds remaining. After Regis cut the lead to 57-56, Dunbar scored the final point on a free throw with one second left.
