Women's hockey has 41 shots in setback to Ephs

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College women's hockey team had 41 shots on goal, but Williams College pulled away in the third period for a 3-0 NESCAC win on Saturday at Alfond Rink.

The two teams battled to a 1-1 overtime tie on Friday night.
 
Game highlights
* The Mules (4-6-3 overall, 1-4-3 NESCAC) had 25 shots on goal in the second period.
 
* Amanda Reisman scored the lone goal of the first two periods to put the Ephs (8-3-3 overall, 3-2-3 NESCAC) up for good. After the Mules could not clear the puck, Reisman hammered home a rebound off a shot from Eliza Quigley with just 1:39 left in the opening period.
 
* Olivia Stokes put Williams up 2-0 at 3:15 of the third period when she skated from the boards, stopped quickly, and had a wrist shot go in through traffic in front of Colby goalie Cierra San Roman.
 
* In a 4-on-4 situation, Candace Lu found some skating room, took a shot that San Roman saved, and then followed in and put in the rebound.
 
By the numbers
* Williams goaltender Marissa Anderson made 41 saves, while San Roman (pictured) stopped 42 shots. San Roman had 46 saves in the 1-1 tie Friday.
 
* The two teams combined for just one penalty Friday, but Saturday saw 13 penalties called by the officials. While the penalties were up, neither team scored on the power play.
