Women's soccer falls to Camels

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College women's soccer team tied the game at 1-1 before halftime, but Connecticut College scored twice in the second half to pull out a 3-1 NESCAC victory Sunday.

Lauren Steele headed home the game-winning goal at 52:36 for Conn College.

The Camels, ranked fourth in New England, improve to 4-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the NESCAC. The Mules drop to 2-2-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the league.
 
Game highlights
* Michelle Medina took advantage of a miscue on a defensive clear to score the opening goal just 1:15 into the contest for the Camels. The clear was stopped by Medina, who lifted a shot to the upper left corner of the goal.
 
* The Camels had the better of possession time in the opening half,  but the Mules tied the game with just 1:41 remaining. Emily Martin slid a nice crossing pass from the right side to first-year Olivia Greif, who one-timed the shot from about eight yards out.
 
* Conn College went ahead for good on a restart from the right side. Sara Kogelmann lofted a left-footed pass to Steele, who headed the ball to the left corner for a 2-1 lead.
 
* The Camels' Livi Block scored an insurance goal with about 22 minutes to play.
 
By the numbers
* Bryanna Montalvo made one save in 76 minutes, 17 seconds. Sarah Williams and Katy Pelletier also played in goal for the Camels.
 
* Dani Lonati stopped seven shots for the Mules. Colby backs Sofia Oliveira (pictured) and Katie Senechal both had defensive saves to keep the Mules in the game.
