BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Colby College first-year goaltender Cierra San Roman had a fine debut in goal with 32 saves in a tough 3-2 loss to Bowdoin College in a NESCAC women's hockey opener on Friday night.
The Mules (0-1) and the Polar Bears (1-0) will play again Saturday in Colby's home opener at 3 p.m. at Alfond Rink.
How it happened
* The Mules had two leads in the game and scored both of their goals on the power play. Four of the five goals in the game came on the power play.
* Anna Cosentino scored her first collegiate goal for Colby at 17:17 of the second period to break up the scoreless tie. Mule defender Izzy Tegtmeyer had a blast from the point that went off the left post. Cosentino was right in front and jammed the puck in the net.
* The Polar Bears tied the game at 1-1 just 43 seconds into the second period on a power play goal by Maureen Greason.
* The Mules went up 2-1 on an unassisted goal by Moira Mullaney at 12:40 of the second period. However, Bowdoin scored just 1:06 later on Izzi Stoddard's unassisted goal.
* Greason scored her second goal with just 4:46 left in the third period for the final score.
