Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine — Samantha Rizzo had eight saves to help the Colby College women's soccer team keep the game close for 75 minutes in a 3-0 loss at Bowdoin College on Wednesday.
The Mules (4-8-1 overall, 0-7-1 NESCAC) take the long trip to Hamilton College for an 11 a.m. game Saturday. Colby will close out the season next Tuesday at Bates College at 3 p.m.
Rizzo had five saves in the opening half and the Mules only trailed 1-0 at intermission. Despite having just one shot in the first half and two for the game, Colby had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks in the opening half.
The Polar Bears struck at 9:43 of the first half on a goal by Maggie Godley from Lauren McLaughlin.
The Mules kept it close for the first 30 minutes of the second half despite a 20-2 Polar Bear shot advantage. Jill Rathke scored at 75:15 and Taylor Haist added the final goal at 83:04.
Emily Martin and Lauren McCarthy had Colby's shots. Bowdoin goalkeeper Bridget McCarthy made one save for the shutout.
